Are players allowed to copy players spellbooks? How does copying spells work with downtime?
Yes, characters can copy spells from found spellbooks or other characters’ spell books.If the DM allows ingame copying go by the rules in the Player’s Handbook. If it’s out of game, copying can be done with downtime at a rate of one Downtime Day for up to 8 hours of copying in addition to the rules in the Player’s Handbook.
How do Story Origns affect spellcaster and spellbooks?
Characters with the Tyranny of Dragons Story Origin cannot choose Elemental Evil spells as part of their class features or when leveling up, but if they are capable of scribing new spells such as a wizard or warlock with the Book of Shadows class feature, they can learn them if they’re found and copied into their book, such as in a spellbook, scroll, or copying them from other characters’ spellbooks.
Do DMs get the Gold Piece reward for DMing Tyranny of Dragons games, Expeditions or Published Adventures (HotDQ/RoT)?
No, gold piece DM rewards are only for Elemental Evil adventures (D&D Encounters, D&D Expeditions, & Princes of the Apocalypse) and the evergreen adventure, Lost Mine of Phandelver, from the D&D Starter Set, going forward.
All GP rewards are only going forward from the release of the Player’s Guide (March 10th). There are no retroactive GP Rewards. D&D Expeditions that include the GP reward will include it in the adventure under DM Rewards.
